Text: Proverbs 6:16 -19, Prov 8:1, Proverbs 8:9-13

These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him. A PROUD LOOK, A LYING TONGUE, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief. A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

What is Pride? Too high an opinion of oneself because of one’s strength, rank or abilities.

Some Causes of Pride

  1. Over delegation of Authority
  1. Over Access to information: David’s son Absalom indebt knowledge of his father and the kingdom made him proud and contested his father over the leadership of the kingdom.
  2. Politics: The serpents scheming and lies told Eve in the Garden of Eden. They with pride chose to disobey God and rather yielded to Satan’s schemes.
  1. Sin: Cain and Abels sacrifice. Cain’s anger, pride and hatred boiled over into sin and death.

Over delegation of Authority:

Lucifer the falling angel raised his shoulders so high. Pride overtook him and thought he could take the place of the most high God.

Where ever you are, God has brought you thus far. If you humble yourself, he will take you higher.
