Excerpts of Sermon by Joseph Foray Snr.(Elder), Oforikrom Church of Christ, Kumasi, Ghana

date: Sunday, 23rd September, 2012

.....And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Genesis 5: 21-24,

By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. Hebrews 11: 5,6.

Enoch lived an exempliary life in a generation of evil and wickedness prevailing in his day.He stood out like a star of righteousness in a desert of wickedness and perversion.

What is meant by walking with God?

  • To walk with God means to walk in divine direction. To follow God's plan and purpose for one's life. Having continuous fellowship with God.

  • Walking with God means moving step by step with God. Keeping pace with God and not walking or running ahead or behind him. You are in danger of loosing direction when you don't go at God's pace.

  • Walking with God means to walk in agreement with God. Can two walk together, unless they agree. Amos 3:3. Who are you consulting with your plans and programs; probably every body else except God..That is a dangerous foundation to lay for your future. Consult and agree with God every step of your way in life.

  • Walking with God means to walk in Faith. For without faith, it is impossible to please God; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is the rewarder of them that deligently seek him. Hebrews 11: 6

Enoch lived continuously in righteousness day after day and in the end he did not die but was caught up into heaven. Do you desire a similar fate as a child of God, then live for God in truth and faithfulness and you would be gloriously rewarded.
